Foremost Receives First-Ever Spirit of Achievement Award from JA of the Michigan Great Lakes
(Grand Rapids, MI) On May 9, 2007 Junior Achievement presented Foremost Insurance Group with the first annual Spirit of Achievement Award at the West Michigan Business Hall of Fame banquet at the Amway Grand Plaza.
Foremost received this award to honor their continued support and commitment to Junior Achievement in West Michigan. Foremost annually provides one of the highest number of volunteers for classroom instruction of any company in the area. Additionally, one of Foremost’s founders, Ed Frey, founded the Grand Rapids JA chapter in 1955.
Foremost participates through classroom instruction and provides financial support through JA sponsored fundraisers like the Bowling Classic and the Stock Market Challenge. The company also participates in JA Job Shadow Day, pairing employees with students to gain real life business experience.

In honor of the award, Foremost is hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon for their employees on May 18 at Foremost headquarters in Caledonia. Keynote speakers at the lunch will be Mike Cok, Vice President, Mark T. Cusack, Zone Executive Director and Jack Hannigan, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer.
Also in attendance will be State Representative Dave Hildenbrand.
Junior Achievement of the Great Lakes reaches 60,000 children each year with their mission to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, understand business and economics, and be better prepared for the workforce.
